Geales actually has something of a rich history, serving Londoners some of the freshest, most quintessentially British fish dishes for years, before falling into decline a few decades ago. Bought, revamped and reopened in 2006 by a pair of innovative entrepreneurs, Geales is now a revered, stylish and glamorous establishment that has remained true to its roots – delivering the finest fish dishes in London.
Of course, the competition Geales restaurant faces nowadays is much sterner than before. No matter, for the restaurant simply relies on its commitment to using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, and serving some long-forgotten but thoroughly well-received specials, such as beer-battered cod, hake, pollock, haddock and sole, served with thick-cut homemade chips, a dash of lemon and the accompanying salt and vinegar. Simple, but devilishly effective and delicious.
For something a little posher, Geales has a few delightful surprises, such as its lovely fish pie, lobster tagliatelle, mussels mariniere and malden rock oysters. Classic desserts such as Eaton Mess can be washed down with champagne, or for a real throwback, cream soda, ginger beer or Dandelion and Burdock.
