In a little restaurant in the leafy suburb of Ealing is where you’ll find the best and most original Neapolitan pizza in London. Hailing from the birthplace of pizza, Naples, owners Angelo and Pasquale set out to bring the original Neapolitan cooking methods, the finest ingredients and a wood-fired oven (both imported from Italy) to the city of London. They wanted to be not only different, but better than the high street pizza places and indeed, they are. Santa Maria has been crowned number one pizza to try before you die by Evening Standard and one of London’s top 10 budget eats by The Guardian amongst various other triumphs and accolades.
With stretchy and springy thin dough bases and hand-crushed tomato, pizza takes centre stage here with a good selection of starters, salads and desserts also available. People travel from all over the big city to taste these delicious and famous traditional pizzas and unsurprisingly, the tiny Santa Maria can get tremendously busy.
