Behind Restaurant

Behind was, without question, the best Michelin one-star restaurant I have ever experienced—easily on par with many two-star restaurants. The 10-course tasting menu was exceptional from start to finish. Every dish was thoughtfully conceived, beautifully executed, and showcased remarkable attention to detail. The wine pairings were equally well considered, complementing each course perfectly and enhancing the overall experience. What truly set Behind apart was the atmosphere. Despite the precision and sophistication of the food, the environment felt relaxed, welcoming, and entirely focused on the guests’ enjoyment. Each dish was presented and explained in detail, adding depth and context to the meal without ever feeling pretentious. An unforgettable dining experience and a masterclass in hospitality, creativity, and execution.
A truly outstanding seafood tasting menu in a great setting. Course after course of perfectly curated dishes, bursting with flavour and texture. Stand out dishes featured grey mullet, brill and red shrimp. Also, a great wine pairing, including a memorable glass of Krug.
We visited with family for my graduation , and we were absolutely in heaven with the menu. Each dish offered an incredibly balanced pairing of flavors and textures. Every ingredient had a purpose, the seasonal selection, sourced locally from England, often told a story about traditional, forgotten dishes inspired by international cuisine. We appreciated the risks taken with certain flavor combinations, all of which were successful. The experience included 10 dishes with wine pairing, perfectly dosed, neither too much nor too little, with just enough bites to appreciate every taste. The wines were excellent, original, and full of surprises. Each plate was meticulously prepared before our eyes by a dynamic team, then brought to the table and explained in detail. For me, this totally deserves a Michelin star. I would definitely come again and highly recommend it. Chef Andy and his team will go far! ⭐️
We went to Behind for a special occasion, and honestly, it delivered exactly what I hoped it would, and then some. It’s Michelin starred, but it doesn’t feel stiff or intimidating, which I really appreciated. The fish focused tasting menu was genuinely spectacular. Every course felt thoughtful and confident, clean flavours, beautifully cooked, nothing trying too hard to show off. You can tell this is a kitchen that knows exactly what it’s doing. It’s absolutely worthy of its star, no question. Credit where it’s due to Chef Andy Beynon, the cooking here feels calm, assured, and very intentional. I really liked the open kitchen setup. There’s a nice energy in the room, you can see the team working, but it never feels chaotic or distracting. It actually adds to the experience and makes the whole place feel more alive. We did the wine pairing and I’m glad we did. The selections were spot on, and the sommelier explained each wine in a way that was clear and engaging without being pretentious or overbearing. It flowed naturally with the meal and elevated the whole experience. Overall, this is a great spot for a date or an anniversary. Refined but relaxed, special without being stuffy. One of those meals you leave feeling quietly impressed rather than overwhelmed, and that, to me, is exactly what a great restaurant should do.
