Obviously, it’s been around since 1974. I’m sure it’s undergone some changes and such but I don’t know. I think I expected more. The fish and chips were, I don’t know, pretty average. I’ve had much better in the United States and elsewhere. They didn’t blow my mind. The chips lacked flavor and texture…..really the batter was crispy for the cod, but I’ve had better and it certainly wasn’t worth €60 for two servings one for myself and one for my partner.
We came on the recommendation of a local and we were not disappointed! The haddock and chips were cooked to perfection and the curry sauce took it over the top! Mushy peas were delicious and we finished off with a sticky toffee pudding! Definitely recommend this to any tourist in town!
I believe this is one of the best fish and chips I have ever had. Every cut into it, you will hear the crunchy underside of the golden fried fish fillet. I tried the Haddock and it was fantastic. Flavourful, fresh, and firm yet easy to bite through. I swallowed the large serving pretty quickly. Add a squeeze of lemon, mayo, tomato sauce, and vinegar in various combination to have have fun with the combination of taste and pleasure! Delightful meal and certainly worth the trip here!
Watched numerous YouTube videos about this place and decided to give it a try because of its close proximity to our hotel. Many people describe it as a tourist trap, but our experience was quite the opposite. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately. We ordered the haddock and chips to share, along with pickled onions, a chocolate shake, and an americano. The coffee was hot and delicious. The chocolate shake, however, wasn’t thick or creamy, so I’d recommend skipping it. The haddock and chips portion was massive — my partner and I couldn’t finish it. We added some tartar sauce, salt, and lemon, which made it even better. The fish was crispy, not greasy at all, and absolutely delicious. Our waitress was polite, friendly, and attentive throughout the meal. On our way out, we were asked about our experience, presumably by the owner. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend this place.
Love the Cod Fish and white bait is very good. The waitress is also very friendly and helpful. The best Fish & Chips that we tried so far in UK!
